China attraction booking windows: the 2026 dataset

How far ahead do China's hardest tickets actually open — and can you still just show up? This table tracks the attractions where advance booking genuinely decides your trip, compiled and re-verified against each venue's official booking channel (not resellers). The step-by-step booking mechanics live in our attraction booking guide; each attraction name links to its full MapTrip page.

How to read this table

Required means advance real-name reservation is the entry mechanism — turning up without one usually means no entry, even where a ticket is free. Recommended means same-day or walk-in entry is normally possible, but peak dates and special exhibitions sell out. Where a fixed release window exists, tickets for popular dates are often gone within minutes of release — set an alarm for the release time in China Standard Time.

Methodology & freshness

Every row is verified against the venue's current official channel (booking site, WeChat mini-program, or gate policy) — not against other travel sites. Verification month per row: 2026-08. The dataset is re-checked on a monthly cadence; this page regenerates from the same data file that powers the per-attraction pages, so the two can't drift apart.
