1. What MapTrip is
MapTrip is an independent, foreigner-focused travel guide for Chinese megacities (Shanghai, Beijing, and more cities over time). We curate points of interest, vlog routes, transit walk-throughs, and pre-trip checklists (visa, payments, connectivity). We are not a booking platform — bookings happen on third-party sites we link to.
2. Content is provided "as is"
Travel information changes constantly. Opening hours, ticket prices, visa policies, and transit rules can shift without notice. We update the site monthly but cannot guarantee accuracy at any given moment. Always confirm critical details (especially visa and entry rules) with the official source before you travel.
- Visa policies — confirm at the consulate or embassy website for your nationality.
- Opening hours and ticket prices — confirm on the venue's official channel (often WeChat or 大众点评) the day of your visit.
- Transit fares and timetables — check the metro app or 12306 for trains.
3. Content sources
Photographs are sourced from Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay under their respective Creative Commons / royalty-free licenses, with attribution where the license requires it. Map tiles are from Amap (高德地图) under their developer terms. Vlog thumbnails are linked from YouTube and remain the property of the original channels.
4. AI features
Some features (POI chat, trip review) use large language models from DeepSeek and Anthropic. AI output can be confidently wrong. Treat AI suggestions as a starting point, not a final answer, and double-check any facts before acting on them.

6. User-submitted content
If you submit feedback through the sidebar 留言板 or send yourself an itinerary, you grant us a limited license to store and process that content to provide the service. Do not submit anything illegal, harmful, or that you don't have the right to share.
7. Account & account deletion
Accounts are optional. If you sign in via Clerk to sync your trip across devices, you can request deletion by emailing the address in section 10. All server-side data tied to your user ID is removed within 14 days. Local trip data in your browser's localStorage is always yours to delete via dev tools.
8. Liability
MapTrip is provided without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any loss, damage, missed flights, denied entry, or other harm arising from your use of the site. You are responsible for your own travel decisions.
9. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for at least 14 days. Continuing to use the site after a revision means you accept the new terms.
