Sea World Culture and Arts Center

Opened in 2017 to designs by Pritzker laureate Fumihiko Maki, Sea World Culture and Arts Center is a 71,000m² museum/cultural center on the waterfront of Shekou Bay. The signature white triangular volumes (Maki called them 'fins') extend over the harbor, and the rooftop terrace is the most photographed sunset spot in Shekou. The center hosts the V&A Gallery (the London museum's first overseas branch), a design museum, performance halls, and a rotating program of fashion, architecture, and design shows. The on-site cafés and a top-floor rooftop terrace are open without museum tickets — bring a camera for the 17:30 golden hour. Adult entry 50 RMB for permanent gallery, 80-150 RMB for special exhibitions. The whole complex is part of the larger Sea World waterfront promenade — make an evening of it.
