Dameisha is the largest free public beach in Shenzhen — a 1.8km curve of sand along Yantian District's east coast, framed by Wutong Mountain to the north. The water is calm and family-friendly; the swimming season runs April-October. The beach is anchored at the east end by the giant "Wind, Sun & Sand" sculpture (a Shenzhen icon) and at the west end by changing rooms and rental kayaks/SUPs. Weekends in July-August get genuinely crowded with city families; weekdays and early mornings are quieter. Entry is free, but reservation is required July-August through the Yantian District WeChat mini-program. Pair with Dapeng Fortress (40 min taxi east) or Xichong Beach (20 min taxi south, less crowded) for a full east-coast day. Metro Line 8 reaches Yantian Lu Station; taxi the last 10 min.
