What Chinese travelers actually do here
Distilled from Chinese-language travel notes — the practical tips most English guides miss.
- ▸Come on a weekday morning in May, June or October; July-August weekends are genuinely packed with city families.
- ▸The seven winged 'flying figure' sculptures at the east end are the icon shot, best before mid-morning glare.
- ▸No entry booking is needed; only drivers must reserve a vehicle slot for peak-season weekends, so arrive by metro and skip the hassle.
- ▸Bring cash; beachside stalls and rentals are cash-only despite the modern setting.
- ▸Less-crowded alternative: Xichong Beach on the Dapeng Peninsula is about an hour's drive south with far fewer people.
- ▸Wutong Mountain rises behind the beach; the trailhead is about 30 minutes west to combine sand and a hike.
- ▸Last metro back from Dameisha Station leaves earlier than you expect, so check return times before sunset.

What visitors say about Dameisha Beach
Consistently praised: free entry, a long soft-sand shoreline, scenic coastal promenade, and direct metro access from the city
Most common gripe: shoulder-to-shoulder crowds on summer weekends and public holidays
Frequently asked questions about Dameisha Beach
- Do I need a reservation to enter Dameisha Beach?
- No — entry is free year-round and the old personal-entry reservation was scrapped in October 2023, so you can simply walk in. The only booking that remains is for cars: driving into the Meisha area on weekends and holidays during peak season (May 1 to October 8) requires a vehicle reservation. Arrive by metro or taxi and you need nothing.
- How do I get to Dameisha Beach from central Shenzhen?
- Plan roughly 60-70 minutes from the central CBD. Metro Line 8 runs east directly to Dameisha Station, and exits A and B put you at the park on foot — no taxi needed. Going early avoids both the worst traffic and the midday crowds in summer.
- Is the water safe for swimming at Dameisha?
- Yes, the bay is calm and family-friendly, with lifeguards on duty during the May-October swimming season. You can also rent SUPs and kayaks, around 100 RMB per hour. Outside swimming season the beach stays open for walking, but there are no lifeguards, so treat the water as look-only.
