Designed by British landscape architect LUC and opened in 2000, Century Park is the green heart of Pudong. The 140-hectare grounds wrap around a 25-hectare central lake with pedal-boat rentals. Themed sub-areas include the Japanese Garden, Bird Sanctuary, and a Wild Tree zone. Locals come to fly kites, picnic, and walk dogs. There's a small entry fee (around 10 RMB). Rentable electric carts circle the park if you're tired. Combine with the adjacent Science and Technology Museum and the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. Easiest access via Line 2 (Century Park station).

Best place in Shanghai to fly a kite. Plenty of space and steady wind off the bay.
