The museum's signature 'Hong Kong Story' permanent exhibition is among Asia's best-curated history museums — eight chronological halls from geological pre-history through colonial era to 1997 handover. Reconstructed Bauhinia village, a 1940s street with tram + cafe, a 1990s living room. Free admission with passport. Allow 3 hours. The museum is in TST East, 10-min walk from TST MTR or 5 min from Hung Hom. As of 2024 the Hong Kong Story is closed for a major rebuild — check status before visit; the Hong Kong Science Museum next door is open as a substitute.
