Daming Palace was the principal residence of the Tang Dynasty (AD 634-907) — 3.2 km² at its peak, four times the size of Beijing's Forbidden City, and the world's largest palace complex at the time. The UNESCO Silk Road World Heritage listing covers the Hanyuan Hall foundation, the throne hall mounds, Linde Hall, and the Danfeng Gate. Restored as a national heritage park in 2010 with a museum, miniature park model (1:15), an IMAX film about Tang court life, and the Danfeng Gate ceremonial gate replica. Free entry to the park; museum + Hanyuan Hall ¥60. Allow 3-4 hours. Rent the electric tram (¥35) — the park is huge. Best paired with Han Yang Ling tomb morning + Daming Palace afternoon.

Tang dynasty palace ruins, 4× bigger than Forbidden City when intact. The Hanyuan Hall foundation alone is humbling. Electric tram (¥35) is worth it.

大明宫遗址公园免费!博物馆+含元殿基址+IMAX 短片只要 ¥60。比西安碑林、华清池更值得一去。
